Hello All

I am asking for advice for a set of 2-way radios. I am hard-of-hearing and need some extra volume for the speakers that fit inside your helmet. I currently have a set of Motocomm Sidekick 1000.

I am not pleased w/ the performance of these units, either w/ the range...Yards, not Miles!!! Nor w/ the volume coming out of the speakers.

I would like some opinions on radios/systems and/or speakers. I do not know if the volume problem I experienced is with the radios I have, or the speakers themselves.

I am looking at the Collet Communicators, but the problem  w/ those is that the club I ride w/ uses FRS/GMRS radios. Collet does not mfg radios w/ those frequencies.

Thanks for your time.

Hey Jaxom, You might want to look at ChatterBox helmet Radios, We have 4 of them and love um Just because they use FRS/GMRS Freq... They ain't cheap but it is worth it.... www.chatterboxusa.com  You can probably catch a good deal on Ebay... That's where I bought ours.... Just make sure they are a certified dealer. Cheesy And these units will take alot of ABUSE....

I have had the Collett Communicators for a few months. They work absolutely great.
The ONLY downside is when I ride w/ the Michigan club. They use FRS/GMRS radios. The Colletts won't work w/ those other one. Collett does not and will not make a radio to operate on those limited frequencies. However, as a work around, I can plug my FRS radio into a headphone jack and at least hear the MI club. Then if needed I can key the mike on the FRS radio by hand.
