Was riding the quad down a back road the other day and the temperature warning light came on. I was only running about 30-35mhp, just cruising down the road. When I pulled over, the fan was running and there appeared to be plenty of coolant and the grill protecting the radiator was reasonably clean.

After a couple minutes, the bike cooled off and I went on my way. But the warning light came on again on my way home.

Any idea/suggestions?

Mine was about a cup low on coolant one time and it overheated.  Plus you need to make sure the radiator is kept clean. Learned that lesson the hard way Smiley

Make sure the radiator is clear of all mud.  Spray it with a garden hose opposite of normal air flow.

You might need to completely remove the radiator to flush the fins out. You will be amazed at the amount of muck and mud in there that you can't see. Even after you think you have it ALL!!!

Another possibility...

My 650 had overheating issues that about drove me crazy. Did all the normal stuff: Cleaned the rad. Made different splash guards. Even (gulp...) drove around mud holes. Still overheated. Our dealer was of no help, other than to say~Yep, they're known for that. Angry

I asked my gear-head cousin to take a stab at it. I forget which one, but, one of the cylinders was running too lean. He changed the jet in that cyclinder. Cured it of the there-is-no-reason-this-!@#$-should-be-running-hot problem. Hopefully yours is just a radiator issue. A "clean" radiator can be like an "unloaded" gun. How do you really know...
